Condition: Very good pre-owned condition. Plaster intaglio is intact in its mounting. A bit of gilt loss on the corners/edges of the frame. Paper backing is torn/breaking down with age. Please see photos.Ā
Details: Grand Tour intaglios were popular souvenirs in the 18th and 19th centuries to commemorative a travelers journey through Europe. Italian in origin, this plaster relief depicts "The Death of Abel" after the painting by Michel Martin Drolling. It is mounted in a red velvet lined, gilt shadow box frame.Ā
