Dimensions: 18" W x 24" T (25 1/2" W x 31 1/2" T with frame)

Condition: Fair. Canvas has had some repairs and still has one small tear/hole to the upper right side. Frame has a small chip on the interior left edge. Some cracking and wear consistent with age. Please see photos.

Details: A lovely rural landscape of two stags and fog settling over the Scottish highlands. 

About the artist: Ernest F. Hill was born on October 26th, 1873 in Birmingham, England. His landscape and coastal subjects show that he travelled far and wide in Britain to paint - Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and other English locations and his earliest documented exhibition was in 1897. He was adept at both watercolor and oil and displayed his works on exhibition until 1946.

Throughout his accomplished career in the arts, Hill served as a Vice President of the The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, associate Professor at the Barber Institute at Birmingham University, and Headmaster of Bournville Art School. Hill died on September 4th, 1960 at the age of 86 in his hometown of Birmingham.
