Item: Framed Painting

Artist: Joseph Baris (Italian)

Dimensions: 15” W x 12” T (23 1/8” x 19 1/4” with frame)

Condition: Good. Frame has some cosmetic wear. Matting has some areas of discoloration and interior metal trimming has separated at the corners. Paper backing is attached with tape which has become to come up in multiple places. Glass is slightly off center and loose in the frame. The watercolor itself is in excellent condition with no signs of damage or exposure. 

Details: Signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Frame is made of solid wood with original backing and artist’s business card still attached. The landscape pictures a serene, lush, tree-lined stream under summer blue skies. 


About the artist: An Impressionistic artist, Joseph Baris Joseph immigrated from the Italian countryside to Cincinnati in 1956. A mostly self taught artist who has received guidance from Roland Huston, Joseph worked in watercolor for years before switching to oils in the1980s. Though he paints a wide range of landscapes, his work is often inspired by his memories of the Italian countryside, And his unique style is inspired by artists such as Monet. Joseph’s work is held in many corporate and private collections.
